The Lafayette Hotel's Friday night Dive In Movies series

First of four poolside screenings of classic 80's movies start March 15

The Lafayette Hotel & Swim Club (2223 El Cajon Boulevard) has taken their recent $8 million renovation and run with it, cranking out new events left and right.

One of their tried-and-true events, the Dive In Movies series, is back for another go-around at this old-world style hotel - or more specifically around the pool-area outside.

For four consecutive Friday nights starting March 15, classic 80's "family-friendly" movies will be shown poolside - a different movie each week - at no charge.

Take the "Dive In Movies" name literally, even, and enjoy the film from inside the swimming pool - perhaps acting out a water ballet version of the on-screen scenes.

Aside from the self-serve complementary popcorn, roaming servers will be available to tend to your heartier food needs selling 1/4 all-beef hot dogs & hamburgers, both served with french fries.

Those servers will also be slinging cocktails & beer, or soda and water if you prefer, in order to quench that perpetual movie thirst that tends to arise from all-you-can-eat popcorn.

If turnout is good and demand is high, there is talk that the Dive In Movie series might expand into the later part of April and beyond.

These free movies start at 8pm, right after Lafayette's Friday night live music ends.
