Tattooed guys busted with a stolen BMW

Suspicious deputy spotted them at gas station

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, I was driving home and noticed many law-enforcement vehicles at the corner of Bancroft Drive and Kenwood Drive.

I later learned from sheriff’s department spokesman Sgt. Matt Cook that two white men, described as “heavily tattooed,” were spotted by an on-duty deputy “pumping gas into a BMW” at the corner Circle Market Deli in Spring Valley.

Suspicious, the deputy ran the BMW's license plate and discovered that it had been reported stolen. After he and several responding deputies conducted a “high-risk vehicle stop” both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

Joshua Roberts, 37, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and booked into Central Jail; his 17-year-old companion, found to have an outstanding warrant, was later transported to juvenile hall.
