Extreme Value Retailer to Open…Soon

A chain-link fence, lots of scaffolding, and a face-lift now separate would-be shoppers from the soon-to-open Point Loma Grocery Outlet in Midway Towne Center.

"Point Loma Grocery Outlet is coming!” read a recent company Facebook post. “The store is getting a face lift, and hiring events will begin shortly.”

According to the Facebook page, an opening date for their store has not yet been scheduled but the forecast is for late January 2013.

According to groceryoutlet.com, the Berkeley -based chain started as a deep-discount/military-surplus store in 1946. “Today, Grocery Outlet is a third-generation family run business, recognized as the nation’s largest grocery extreme-value retailer…. Our offering is wide: groceries, frozen, deli & refrigerated, produce, fresh meat, general merchandise — seasonal products, housewares, toys, and gifts — health & beauty, and a most impressive inventory of beer & wine.”
