Tijuana Bordello Busted

Óscar Rubén Rodríguez Gómez

Tijuana newspapers reported this week that a former state policeman, Óscar Rubén Rodríguez Gómez, 54, was arrested on April 26 for running a casa de citas (“house of appointments”; i.e., a brothel) in a quiet residential district of Tijuana.

The brothel reputedly specialized in catering to men with a predilection for under-aged girls. Men reportedly responded to ads placed on Craigslist and in local publications.

The bordello was a house in the Cacho neighborhood. Appointments were allegedly set up by Rodríguez’s 31-year-old girlfriend, Patricia Peralta Montes de Oca (aka “La Candy”), who worked as a receptionist and secretary.

Investigators from the sex crimes and family violence division were alerted by an anonymous tipster of the presence of supposed minor females.

During the bust, police discovered four women of legal age who were reportedly posing as under-aged females. Five clients were caught in flagrante delicto. The ages of the women were not reported.

The ex-cop and his receptionist were charged with the crime of lenocinio, akin to “pimping and pandering.”

The 24-hour-a-day business reportedly had been operating for only a few weeks. The five clients were released after questioning, as were the “over-aged” females.
