First, please tell me how you came to be an Avon salesman.

Actually, I grew up with my mother using Avon products. So, I’ve always known about Avon. I started selling Avon because I wanted to make some extra money. I figured about $300 - $500 extra a month with really help me out financially. Out of the blue someone ask me if I knew of anyone who might bet interested in making some extra money. I thought about it and called her later and said, “I would like to make some extra money”. It all started there.

How does it work today? I haven’t had an Avon representative at my door in years.

Well, it still works the same way, but a lot better with the Internet. There are many ways to advertise your business. With Avon commercials that you’ve probably seen, it gets even easier to sell Avon products. Being a guy, I would never knock on someone’s door, but the Internet is vast and limitless.

Ok, so you’re looking to build up your team. What does that mean?

Well, it means that I’m looking for a few motivated women or men who are interested in making some extra cash. Of course, the possibilities are limitless and only stunted by the person’s inability to dream.

What are you looking for in team members?

No experience necessary! All you need is the ability to speak to people and a desire to make some extra cash a month. Anything else is teachable.

What kind of commitments would this require?

Honestly, I commit approximately 3 – 4 hours a week. It only costs $10 to get started as an Avon Representative.

And what can your team members expect in return?

It depends on the goal of the Representative. Definitely lots of support from a support team. Some want a few hundred dollars, others may desire more to meet their financial goals.

And what is the trajectory of an Avon salesperson? You start out as a team member, and then what?

Avon Representative, team leader, unit leader. There are a variety of options. Once someone decides to be a leader, they can start recruiting a team of their own by doing what I’m doing. Not only do I want to build a team, but a team of leaders. The great thing about being an Avon Representative, it’s a proven name in the industry for 125 years.

What would you say is the most challenging aspect of this work?

For me, the biggest challenge was being a male, but I quickly overcame that issue by first believing in myself. Avon pretty much sells itself.

The most rewarding?

Being a part of a bigger team that’s very supportive.
