The Pope of Mope Visits Escondido

Long live the legacy of the crooner from Manchester, England. May his presence instill in you a feeling of natural...moodiness?

Random as it is, the “pope of mope” played a sold out show in the heavily Hispanic city of Escondido. Dawning a flamboyant disco-like v-neck sweater, Morrissey cradled the audience in his hand through his 18-song set. What seemed to be the highlight of the evening was the always-popular melody “Everyday Is Like Sunday.”

Vintage Moz moment: upon finishing Smiths classic “Meat Is Murder,” Morrissey jokingly told the crowd, “The name of that song is ‘Kentucky Fried Shit.’” Although that created a bit of an awkward silence in the crowd, Morrissey's baritone voice brought us back with another Smiths classic, “I Know It's Over.” The crowd seemed to realize that they were witnessing one of the Smiths' best songs as they sang along with the 52-year-old icon.
