La Jollans Soak in Baths at the Loft at UCSD

Los Angeles beat scene mainstay Baths brought his one-man show to the sold-out Loft and kept the twentysomethings swaying to his unique electronic melodies. His play list consisted of down-tempo collages such as "Lovely Bloodflow" from Cerulean, the record that landed on several critics’ year-end lists and catapulted Baths to sought-after commodity. His densely layered compositions incorporate an array of instruments, which accented by his Prince-meets-Bilal crooning. The acoustics of the venue provided Baths the opportunity to really flex his vocal range among frantic button-mashing intervals, which seeped into the pores of arrhythmic La Jollan feet.

It's been a hell of a year for the 21-year-old artist, who has gone from unknown to cult hero with the release of his Anticon Records debut and residency at the much-hyped Low End Theory in L.A. On stage he is devoid of ego, casually conversing with the audience between songs and displaying a delightfully awkward and captivating energy.
