On Saturday, February 5, at about 3:15 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a call from the Santa Fe Train Depot after a passenger fell off a train from San Luis Obispo.
According to information obtained from a fire-department incident report, a 59-year-old male passenger who appeared to be intoxicated fell onto the tracks and suffered a cut on his chin while disembarking.
Two of the Amtrak train conductors who were working on the train, one a former San Diego sheriff’s deputy and the other a former emergency medical technician at the Barona casino, administered first aid until paramedics arrived.
The victim was transported to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest for treatment of his injuries.
