Goo Goos by the Bay

It was a trip back to ’90s adult-contemporary radio when Michelle Branch and the Goo Goo Dolls took the stage at Humphreys by the Bay on this beautiful summer night.

Branch played all of her hits plus some new tracks. She took a moment to point out a guy floating on a pool raft in the marina. The guy was using a dustpan for a paddle. When introducing her band she acknowledged their missing drummer by saying, "We don't talk about him."

The Goo Goo Dolls sounded just as energetic and emotionally charged as they did when they first hit the mainstream music almost 20 years ago. They switched out guitars between each song, from acoustic to electric and back again. Their hits "Iris," "Better Days," "Broadway," and "Home" had even the most macho members of the crowd singing along with them in chorus. They finished the show with a rousing rendition of "Give a Little Bit" that brought everybody to their feet.
