Live at the Troubadour

In 1970, Carole King and James Taylor first performed together in a small nightclub in West Hollywood called the Troubadour. Thirty-six years and a lot of music history later, they returned with the same back up musicians, featuring well-traveled lead guitar Danny Kortchmar, to record a live CD/DVD for over three nights to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that famed L.A. venue.

Unless you're an A-list celebrity or very rich, you weren't there. But you can now share the mellow gold of timeless tunes ("Fire and Rain," “Sweet Baby James," So Far Away," etc.) in duet form on Live at the Troubadour.

The production values and sound quality are first rate, and the DVD is in high def with 5.1 Dolby surround sound. You've heard it all before, except for standout track "Up on The Roof," where the two old pros share the lead in a satisfying vocal duel.

I can't think of any two contemporary hit makers that could put out this kind of best-selling double disc of a live-performance album 40 years from now. Certainly not Lady Ga Ga and Justin Bieber!
