What Does Everybody Here Want?

Approximately 200 San Diego residents participated in the Worldwide Medical Marijuana March Saturday, May 1. The march started at Crystal Pier and moved south down the boardwalk to the rollercoaster in Mission Beach.

Demonstrators passed out lighters, NUG magazines (the cannabis magazine for the cannabis community), shiny green marijuana leaf and peace sign necklaces, along with corked, plastic green vials with blunts; a heavy scent of marijuana permeated the air. Many held hand-painted signs and waved “I love you” messages in sign language. One individual wore a marijuana plant costume.

“What does everybody here want?” yelled Craig Beresh, through a megaphone across the boardwalk.

“Legalization,” yelled back the demonstrators and bystanders.

“When do we want it?” asked Beresh.

“NOW!”

The march was sponsored by Southern California N.O.R.M.L, The National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws, along with the 30th Street Patient Collective.
