All Cops on Deck

A multi-agency DUI and driver's-license checkpoint conducted during the late hours of March 5 and 6 in National City was a success, according to a Chula Vista Police Department news release.

Law enforcement from San Diego, National City, Coronado, Chula Vista, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, and the California Highway Patrol participated. The operation resulted in the arrests of 11 people for driving under the influence, 2 of whom had prior DUI convictions. In addition, 27 vehicles were impounded from drivers who had no licenses.

The “Zero Tolerance” program is the 11th in a series of operations for the DUI Prosecution and Awareness Program funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.

On the same night one year ago, NCPD officers made only two arrests for DUI, impounded 22 vehicles for various violations, and wrote 20 citations.
