Stolen Fashion Statement

A 20-year-old man was arrested for burglary after he was found sporting the clothes he allegedly stole from a dryer at about 9:30 a.m. on December 28.

A 911 caller alerted police that the thief was being chased by the victim whose clothes had been stolen from the dryer in his garage. The caller gave a description of the suspect and the suspect’s clothing: jeans and a sweatshirt.

The suspect was spotted and detained by police less than a mile from where the incident occurred on Woodland Way. Carlsbad police lieutenant Kelly Cain said the suspect was found wearing the victim’s jeans and sweatshirt.

Other items of clothing were recovered at the time of the arrest, according to police. The jeans, however, didn’t come off of the thief right away. The clothing bandit was booked at the Vista Detention Facility.

“We called the jail,” LT. Cain said. “They gave him some orange pants and we picked up the jeans.”
