Real Estate Smackdown

Vantage Pointe, the high-rise condominium project whose owners made the controversial decision to rent out units in its center tower last year, may be a little late in paying its own rent.

On a stroll last Sunday, February 7, I noticed the storefront that was once Vantage Pointe's leasing office at 664 Sixth Avenue had an eviction notice posted on the door. The landlord (Borders, Inc) stated on the notice (dated October 16, 2009) that “Pointe of View Marketing and Management” was delinquent in paying nearly $80,000 in rent and taxes. The notice stated that the tenant had three days to pay the rent or vacate the premises.
