Trolley Pass Black Market Pops Up at Border

Since our local Metropolitan Transit System changed the trolley fares and how the bus and trolley transfers worked in 2009, riding the trolley has become very expensive.

Before with a trolley ticket or a bus tranfer you could transfer within two hours and not have to buy another ticket if going in the same direction. But today for the same trip, you need to buy a $5 dollar day pass, or pay $2.50 each time you transfer.

Ever since that happened, people have been trying to find ways on how to get tickets more cheaper, or just by asking riders going back to Mexico for their day pass.

I have noticed from going to Tijuana on a daily basis that people in Tijuana are asking trolley riders for their day passes or even buying them for one dollar and then reselling them to people crossing back to San Ysidro.

Before I used to see about five or six people selling tickets, but now I see over 20 people offering you the tickets for 35 pesos or $2.50.
