Wavves kahuna Nathan Williams announced at New York’s Bowery Ballroom last week that “Walt Disney was a Nazi.... You go, you feel Nazi vibes. It’s disgusting.” Williams said that the Walt Corp. “mildly sued” him for having a song called “Mickey Mouse” on his new oil-slick surf-pop disc King of the Beach. Williams has agreed to alter the song title for future pressings of the record. The lyrics really have nothing to do with the Mick, anyway, it’s more about Peter Panism. Oops, now I’ll probably get sued. To hear what pearls drop next from young Nate, get to the Museum of Contemporary Art downtown for this multimedia homecoming show.... When Wavves closes out, and it will, you got a walking-distance gig at 4th&B, where Detroit’s gun-cocking, right-wing rocking Ted Nugent will take the stage on his Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead tour. Gotta love the Nuge.... Elsewheres: Colombian pop-rock Grammy winners Aterciopelados (“velvety ones”) land at Belly Up...local luminaries Brian Warren of Weatherbox and Rob Crow of just about every other band in town will play acoustic sets at Whistle Stop...the alt-rocking Aussie act Karnivool comes to town and sets up at Brick by Brick...local art-punk upstarts Cabuloan and Obligerant join forces at Bar Pink...power-pop trio the Güze will entertain their last show ever at Epicentre...Soda Bar draws a draught of experimental pop with Portland’s Wax Fingers and like-minded locals Jeans Wilder and D/Wolves...and Sabbath fans take note, the OC’s gonzoid fuzz rockers Fu Manchu hang faces at Casbah with their latest, Signs of Infinite Power. Devil horns up. Now, bang them heads.

It’s Friday the 13th part whatever, so you might want to make an early night of it with the Soft Pack at the Del Mar track. This North County quartet, once known as the Muslims, has one catchy collection in this year’s s/t debut full-length. I’d suggest you give a listen to “Answer to Yourself,” but the thing is such an insistent earworm, man. I’ve got it ringing in my head just typing this, and it’s driving me f---ing insane!... The North Park Music Thing kicks off tonight with lots to see and hear and drink and do. Too much for my limited list, so click this: sandiegomusicfoundation.org/npmt.... Seattle’s perennial punks the Spits land on Beauty Bar. I don’t know if that’s part of the NPMT, but there it is.... L.A. psycho-punks the Morlocks celebrate a CD release at Tower Bar for their new stereophonic do, The Morlocks Play Chess, skimming some cream off the Chess Records catalog.... If you were waitin’ till the Hot Club of Cowtown comes home, you got it, hot-jazz fan. The onetime San Diego swing trio will entertain the AMSD showplace Friday night.... Speaking of hot jazz, Dizzy’s stages gypsy jazz Argentinean Gonzalo Bergara. The virtuoso guitarist fronts a saucy quartet that’s sure to fill the floor.

If you’re looking for tried and true Saturday night, you got a good bet at Harrah’s with bluesmen B.B. King and Buddy Guy...and a House of Blues burner with the always-scorching Reverend Horton Heat.... Round the bend at 4th&B it’ll be the delightful folksy duo Coheed and Cambria. Jes kiddin’, these prog-rocking New Yorkers will melt the face right off your head; i.e., their new “concept” album is called Year of the Black Rainbow.... Los Angelino doom-metal duo Black Cobra slithers into Casbah behind Providence quartet Howl, which promises you “bong-rippin’ labyrinth metal” from their Relapse debut, Full of Hell. Kewl.... SanFran blues-rock band Stone Foxes hit the Beauty Bar behind Bears & Bulls. For a taste of their urban blooze, check out “I Killed Robert Johnson.” Local soloist Low Volts is on the bill. “Sounds like: Swamp juice”.... Tin Can Ale House stacks up an eclectic indie-rock freebie, with Vegetarian Werewolf, Dominique Leone, experimental flautist (yes, experimental flautist) MaryClare Brzytwa, and Missing Chairs. Gonna be free pizzas, too, and I’ll bet you dollars to donut holes you catch the Veggie Werewolf guy macking on a meat-lover.

Sunday 15
Casbah’s got one of the Two Gallants, Adam Haworth Stephens, Sunday night. The Bay Area artiste will be premiering tuneage from his upcoming Saddle Creek solo set We Live on Cliffs. It’s due to drop at the end of September and sounds sui gallant.... Belly Up books L.A. ska cats Hepcat with the Inciters and Unsteady for what promises to be one skanky affair.... Goth-rockers Sullen Serenade and Spiritual Bat fly into Eleven. I’m told Eleven is the new name of the old Radio Room. Apropos of nothin’, did you see that 7-Eleven sells sushi now? I suggested to the Hindi goddess Deepali at my local store that they should come up with a sake-flavored Slurpee as a “go-with.” She didn’t like that idea because, as she reminded me, sake should be served hot. She’s right, it was a stupid idea. Deepali means “row of lamps.”

Monday 16
House of Blues hosts Chromeo Monday night. They are an extremely popular electrofunk duo from New York, Canada. (That’s what it says on their MySpace page.) My gf loves this music, so I’ll probably have to go even though I don’t want to, and we’ll have a huge fight because I’m a total music snob (she says) and she likes intentionally inflicting this electrocrapola on my gbd (guitar, bass, drums) sensibilities.... Hey, honey, Roadside Graves are playing Tin Can! They’re a folk-rock octet from Jersey. An octet, honey!... Viejas Arena hosts American Idol Live. I just puked a little.

Tuesday 17
From Milwaukee, Wisconsin, classic surf-rock combo the Exotics ride in for Bar Pink’s Tiki Tuesday thing. And on Wednesday night, the Exotics will hit the beach at Tiki House in P.B. Try to keep that straight, hodad.... More ’Sconnies! Brick by Brick has Jungle Rot from Kenosha. They’re a speed-metal band.... Anderson, Indiana’s Ataris will light up Casbah behind their new Fat Wreck t’do Graveyard of the Atlantic.... And folk-pop duo Swell Season blows into House of Blues with Strict Joy. Someone really should separate these two. The movie is f---ing over.

Wednesday 18
A signee to San Diego’s Swami Records, Dan Sartain, will play Casbah Wednesday night. The Alabaman’s got a new bluesy dark-rock disc called Dan Sartain Lives. And the Space takes say the dude’s got the goods. Check him out: myspace.com/dansartain.... Theatrical rocker Meat Loaf will appear at this summer’s run at Humphrey’s by the Bay. Mr. Loaf (aka Marvin Aday, aka Eddie the Delivery Boy) is out to tout this year’s Hang Cool Teddy Bear.... And the Mother Truckers roll into Belly Up humpnight. Caught this Austin act at Brick by Brick last year, and, crapping you negative, the roots-rollicking trio tore it up.
