European Procession

Black Heart's coming to get you, Europe.

It’s been five months since the Black Heart Procession returned from their last European tour. Later this month, the dark knights of indie rock are taking off for another 28-date run through Europe to promote their new disc, Six, an album, according to Black Heart’s website, “brimming with pitch-black ballads of discarded loves and forgotten souls.”

The Black Heart Procession will kick off the tour in Stockholm, Sweden, on May 1, and will end it with a two-show stint in Athens, Greece, at the Rodeo Live Club.

“Yes, it’s another Euro-tour,” writes singer-guitarist Pall Jenkins in an April 11 email. “We are going to places we have not been before or haven’t been in a while, like Poland, Turkey, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Greece, Norway, Sweden, and Germany.”

While on tour, Jenkins and the rest of the Black Hearts look forward to taking in the sites and checking out the local opening acts. Another highlight for the gloom rockers will be their show at the Ghetto in Istanbul, Turkey. After the gig, the group plans on hitting up a new club called Amore Del Tropico, the name of the band’s 2002 full-length. “[The owners] emailed me and asked if they could name the club after our album,” writes Jenkins. “So, we’ll go there for a drink after our show.”

As for a North American tour, Jenkins is unsure when and if that will happen. “Our last [American] tour left us feeling a lil’ low and unloved. We may tour, or we may not again in the U.S.”

Adds Jenkins: “I’m not so eager to go tour month in, month out. Being in a bar seven nights a week gets old…and unhealthy. So we have to feel good about the tours…space them apart. I prefer to be in the studio these days.”
