His Finger for a Gun

La Mesa police detectives are looking for two men who robbed a La Mesa 7-Eleven early Saturday, November 28. According to police sources, a man about 35 years old entered the Baltimore Drive 7- Eleven a few minutes after midnight and demanded cash from the clerk. The surveillance video recorded the suspect simulating a gun with his right hand that he had stuck in a jacket pocket. No weapon was seen in the recording.

While the first suspect robbed the store, a second suspect, about 45 years old, served as a look-out by the front door of the store near the Shell gas station and Holiday Inn. The suspects fled with some cash and were last seen heading south on Baltimore Drive.

“I thought the car was going to hit a light post,” said one witness, a student at Cuyamaca College getting water at the Shell station. He saw a gray Honda Civic or Accord leaving the parking lot at high speed with tires squealing.

La Mesa police described the first suspect as a medium-build black American male, over 6 feet tall, and weighing about 200 pounds. He had black hair, a mustache, and was last seen wearing a blue, wool hooded jacket with vertical black stripes, blue jeans, high-top shoes, and large framed sunglasses.

The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male about 5 feet tall and 150 pounds. He had a stocky build, brown hair, and was last seen wearing a light green baseball hat, gray shirt, and blue jeans. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact the La Mesa Police Department at 619- 667-1400.
