In Bad Faith

Investigators say the murder of pediatrician Dr. Ernesto Aguirre Lomelí — killed on November 18 — was solved two days later with the apprehension of Marco Alejandro, a 16-year-old.

Alejandro had been hired by the doctor to do some touch-up work following the home remodel recently completed by the boy’s father. Alejandro had assisted his father on the project since last January and had ample opportunity to view the doctor’s possessions in the well-heeled neighborhood of Colinas Del Rey.

When the doctor called for some detail work, the lad volunteered himself as contractor, bringing with him a friend named Fernando to assist in the murder and robbery.

Upon arriving at the doctor’s house, the duo stabbed the doctor to death in the kitchen, then absconded with jewelry, cash, and the doctor’s vehicles. The doctor’s blood-spattered body was discovered by his son.

Alejandro was captured while driving the doctor’s Nissan Xterra around his neighborhood. Upon being taken into custody, he confessed to the murder and robbery. His partner remains at large.
