Villefranche-sur-Mer, France

(Janette Lanz)

Bonjour! My boyfriend and I indulged in a seven-night cruise of the western Mediterranean. On day two, the vessel docked at Villefranche, France. We decided to explore France on our own instead of booking an excursion.

While waiting for the tender boats to transport people, I went to the ship’s top deck and snapped pictures of Villefranche’s harbor.

Villefranche is a quaint fishing village located between Nice and Monaco in the French Rivera. I’ve heard how picturesque the south of France is, but there’s nothing like seeing with your own eyes.

There I was captivated by the sight of the mega yachts wading in the water, the hillsides studded with grand villas against a French Alps background. Along the coastline were sandy beaches, delectable cafes and friendly hotels. This was my highlight of our vacation. Au revoir!
