Boarder Region Reopens

The Rancho Peñasquitos Skate Park, located at 10111 Carmel Mountain Road, reopened on June 30 after having been closed for several months due to safety hazards -- the four-year old wooden ramps had deteriorated.

The three dangerous ramps have been removed and the park is again open, although it continues to be unsupervised. Considerations are under way to establish volunteer staffing.

When the skate park closed, Bill Diehl, a San Diego Park and Recreation board member and the Rancho Peñasquitos Park and Recreation council chairman, sought input from the community about what changes they would like to see at the park. (For example, what types of new structures the skaters would like to have installed.) However, he reports that he has received no feedback.

Diehl welcomes any suggestions regarding preferences for park improvements: wdiehljr@san.rr.com
