Protest at UCSD, 1966. That’s Lowell Bergman onstage (with sunglasses). A student of philosopher and social critic Herbert Marcuse, Bergman went on to become a producer on 60 Minutes (where his exposé on the tobacco industry inspired The Insider, a movie in which Al Pacino played the Bergman role).

In an interview at postelservice.com, Bergman explains why he went into journalism: “The spark was the incessant appearance of editorials in the San Diego Union-Tribune demanding that the University of California regents fire Marcuse.”
