Fox Rox, San Diego's only televised local-music show, has been canceled. The program began in 2002 with XETV executive producer Mark Jacobs, who brought in music writer Troy Johnson as host. Jacobs left the station in '04, and Scott Richison took over as producer.

"Three to four people poured their heart and soul into that thing," says Richison. "I think it's amazing that we were able to do it with the staff we had.... A vast majority of the studio performances are available on youtube.com/foxroxvideos."

Fox Rox hosted over 60 local bands and solo artists, including the Locust, the Sultans, Rocket From the Crypt, Cattle Decapitation, Switchfoot, Grand Ole Party, the Bloody Hollies, and the UV Tigers. Nationally touring artists included Maroon 5, the Aggrolites, TV on the Radio, and the Damned.

Because of the show's termination, Richison and two other employees will be looking for new jobs. Fox Rox cohost Patrick C. Sheehy remains at Fox 6, working full-time in the news department.

The last show airs on Fox 6 at midnight, Thursday, March 29, and will be repeated on My TV 13 at 11:30 p.m., Saturday, March 31.
