"Are these movies pirated?" asked Officer K. Wadhams.

"They are copies," suspect Tommy Grant conceded.

In SDPD crime report #05-016812 filed on March 18, Wadhams was on routine patrol and noticed a group of males gathering in a parking stall at 1755 Euclid Avenue. "One of the males appeared to be selling stuffed animals and jewelry out of a duffel bag. Grant was in possession of a black backpack. I opened the backpack and found numerous DVDs that appeared to be pirated. The cases were thinner than a normal DVD purchased at a retail store. The print on the paper was poor and seven of the DVDs did not have the manufacture[r's] address on the label. There were no studio logos on the discs."

Wadhams looked on the back of a DVD case for Million Dollar Baby and saw the following printed: "PIRATED. Piracy Creates JOBS. Pirates PAY TAX on goods bought. Piracy does NOT support Terrorism."

Wadhams asked, "Where did you get the movies?"

"I got them from a white guy," Grant replied. "He drives a tan Chevy Blazer."

"How long have you been selling these pirated DVDs?"

"For about three weeks."

Grant also had copies of Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Man of the House, Cursed, Beef II, and Be Cool. He was arrested and booked into the county jail for the manufacture and sale of counterfeit merchandise.
