When I Told Him I Had Lung Cancer

"When I told him I had lung cancer, he kept asking me to do a benefit," said Peggy Claire, a San Diego jazz singer and former KSDS disc jockey who has inoperable cancer. "Charles McPherson will be hosting the benefit. He's a very old friend of mine. I kept saying no because I didn't want to start asking people for money. But about a month ago I said okay...I want a party."
