Leon Hendrix (Jimi's Brother) and Buddy Miles

Leon Hendrix (Jimi's brother) and Buddy Miles, the original drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, jammed at the La Jolla Hard Rock on November 20th. They were joined onstage by the guitarist from the Buddy Miles Express, Marlo Henderson, and Jimi Hendrix's cousin Ricky.

Leon recently lost his lawsuit contesting the distribution of his brother's and father's assets, which did not include Leon in the division of the multimillion-dollar estate; the estate includes valuable music rights, royalties, and merchandise income.

Jimi Hendrix died in September 1970 after choking on his own vomit while intoxicated, and he left no will.

The Hendrix estate was inherited by Jimi's and Leon's father Al Hendrix, who himself died in April 2002.

Leon, 56, insists he and his children were unfairly written out of a revision of Al Hendrix's will in 1998. He claims that his stepsister, Janie Hendrix, influenced an infirm Al Hendrix to write Leon out of the will. (Leon did get something from his father's will: one gold record.) Janie, the adopted daughter of Al Hendrix, was eight when Hendrix died, and currently runs the company that is in charge of the estate, "Experience Hendrix."

Janie, now 43, was adopted in 1968 when Al married her mother, June Jinka. Al had divorced Jimi's and Leon's mother Lucille in the late 1950s. She died a few years later.
