"It was a hot day and, ya know, I made it," recalls Vern about the last time he rolled around Lake Miramar. "I think I brought my dog; that was more of a pain in the ass than anything." Though these days one can't travel the entire perimeter for security reasons, a workout is guaranteed. "At Lake Miramar," continues Vern, "it's smooth, not too many hills. It's almost five miles around it. You can use your regular chair, although I know people who do it in their racing chairs. It's asphalt, blacktop. It's a long way to walk. On a bike, I'm sure it'd be a piece of cake. They have little docks, so I'm sure you could get into boats easily."
