This volunteer coalition is made of agencies, lawyers, and consultants who work in adoptions, as well as representatives of the "adoption triad": adoptive parents, adoptees, and birth parents. Its reason for being, past-president Joy Kolender explains, "is to plan and put on every year, typically the first Saturday in June, an all-day adoption seminar." Most of the participants are people considering adopting a child. The all-day seminar is held in the Price Center at UCSD. It features speakers, group presentations, and a range of classes dealing with every facet of the process of adoptions, both international and domestic; $50 per person includes lunch.
