Best of 2003: Best Place To See A Double Feature

Not only is MoPA the only film house in town that regularly offers double features (for a mere $7), but curator Scott Marks reveals a wicked humor in pairing classic, cult, or offbeat movies with aptly descriptive billings. For example, the double feature titled "The Unkindest Cut," paired Ed Wood's film Glen or Glenda? with Gore Vidal's Myra Breckenridge. And Orson Welles' Citizen Kane and The Magnificent Ambersons were billed together for an evening called "The Importance of Being Orson." The Spring 2003 series is called "Coded Cinema," and will feature films showing how the Hayes Code tried to "keep movie screens free of morally pernicious material." Most screenings are scheduled Wednesday through Sunday evenings, but sometimes there are matinees on Friday or Saturday afternoons. See the website for specific dates and times.
