The Cable Car Café is the last remnant of San Diego's 1890s transportation system. Wall photos commemorate it, the subsequent electric trolleys, and Harvey Bentley's ostrich farm, which was located on Adams Avenue. Today it's a happy little red-and-white corner joint offering honest American fare from breakfast on. No ostrich burgers yet, but the must-have item is the "Cable Car Cheese Steak" (sliced beef, grilled onions, cheese, hoagie roll). The owners roast their own beef every day with fresh garlic.
