Hunting for an early San Diego picture of whaling ships in the bay, the neighborhood your family grew up in, or downtown Broadway during World War II? The San Diego Historical Society's Archives house one of the largest regional photographic collections in the nation. More than two million images document over 125 years of San Diego County life. Useful reference books help you track down the photos you want. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Admission is $5. Reproductions can be ordered in black and white or sepia. A black-and-white 8x10 is $20; a sepia is $30. A black-and-white 11x14 is $28; a 16x20 is $40. Turnaround time is approximately two weeks.
