"Life coaching is a little psychology, a little therapy, a little spiritual counseling, and a little business advice," says Kathy Nelson. Like most coaches, she works from home, counseling by phone or e-mail, to help her clients sort out their lives. Nelson charges $200 for the initial session (two to three hours), but you can call for a free 30-minute consultation to see if the process is suitable for you. One-hour sessions cost $100, or you can pay a monthly fee of $400. Nelson doesn't work with children or those needing psychiatric help.
