Drummer Alex Lautenen celebrated her 17th birthday in September, bassist Amber Dodson turned 18 in October, guitarist Ashley Degan was 18 in May, and singer Nicky Friedman turned 19 in June. Jailbait lands occasional gigs at Club Xanth, the Che Café, the Playhouse, and elsewhere -- often, they admit, based on the novelty factor of their youth and gender. "Some people criticize us more because we're girls, saying we use our tits and ass to get what we want, and that we have no musical talent," says Ashley. "But we don't dress provocatively and we don't overly flaunt our sexuality. We're serious about our music, but we're all about having fun, if that makes any sense." The band's website has playable MP3s, photos, and a message board where band members participate with frequent posts.
