The average skater can circle the five-mile paved loop around Miramar Lake in about a half hour. Vehicles are allowed Saturday through Tuesday on fishing days, but the rest of the time a skater's other company will be bicyclists and pedestrians along the few rolling hills and corners. The west end of the reservoir has a view clear across San Diego to the Pacific Ocean. From I-15, exit Mira Mesa Boulevard east, then go south on Scripps Ranch Boulevard and east on Scripps Lake Drive.
