Grab the chicken liver, night crawlers, grubs, blood bait, gigs, shiners, dough balls, and rapallas because the fish at Lake Morena are hungry. After years of drought, this reservoir has shrunk to just 11 percent of its original size, not leaving much room and food for our scaly friends. It provides fishermen with trout, black crappie, blue gill, red ear sunfish, channel catfish, bullhead catfish, and until recently it held the world record for a large mouth bass on a fly rod. It is less than an hour away. Drive east on I-8 to the Buckman Springs Road exit. Go south, turn right on Oak Drive, and then right on Lake Morena Drive.
