It's awe-inspiring to watch Garry Cohen create intricate vases and bottles. First, he places his steel blowpipe into an open furnace and winds a small gather of glass onto his pipe. Small amounts of air are puffed into the pipe to expand the glass into a small bubble while it cools. Shaping is achieved with gravity and the use of a steel marver plate. After the preliminary shaping, more air is puffed into the glass until the desired shape is achieved. No two pieces are exactly the same. Cohen does special orders and commissions.
