Buoyant Opening Reception
109 Rea Avenue, El Cajon, 92020
Cost: Free
Buoyant, a nautical-inspired show of self-expression through color, texture, and design for Passageways, will run from October 4-31, with a public reception on October 4 during National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Buoyant includes a whimsical collection of mosaic and hand-painted buoys, playful stuffed fish, and Dulce Moreno’s ceramic mermaids. Buoys range from the traditional stripes of lobster floats to fanciful waterscapes. Playful fabric fish and guppies were fashioned from material to make stuffed animals in sewing workshops. Many buoys are accompanied with artists’ statements about their thoughts and experiences with water and the sea.
