This class with David Raines is designed for beginners as well as those with some screenwriting experience who want to learn how to write a well-crafted screenplay. Beginning with the basics, you will learn how a screenplay is built, with emphasis on structure and character, dialogue and scene-building, genre, theme, goals, and knowing your audience, as well as how to format a screenplay. We will deconstruct well-known scripts and compare and contrast short scenes from the finished film against their written counterparts. Suggested reading includes The 20th Century Screenplay by Linda Aronson, Story by Robert McKee, and The Screenwriter’s Bible by David Trottier.
