Using Databases & Spreadsheets to Find Family
By Kathleen Fernandes. The goal of this presentation is to provide tips that will help you use DNA data to find shared ancestors. Topics addressed will include managing your family file as a database, comparing your family file with that of other matches, using spreadsheets to organize your data, and making use of third-party tools to see how you and your matches are connected Kathleen Fernandes earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Stanford University and worked as a systems analyst in designing IT systems for the Department of Defense. Since retiring, she has been actively pursuing her Portuguese roots and became interested in genetic genealogy as a way to break through the brick walls she encountered in her research. She is particularly interested in tools and techniques for analyzing DNA data in endogamous populations. All meetings start at 1:00 p.m. Second Sunday of the month unless otherwise announced.
