Lights! Camera! Autism! Film and Art Festival
The Autism Society San Diego is proud to present the 2nd Annual Lights! Camera! Autism! A Film and Art Event. This is a celebration of the talents of many autistic and developmentally disabled adults in our San Diego community who have valuable skills in the art, music and film industry .
Cost: $20 in advance and $30 the day of the event.
Hosted wine, beer, beverages plus light appetizers included in your ticket price.
The evening will include an art exhibition featuring multiple, local, autistic artists displaying their work. Art will be available for purchase.
Alexander Pruetting is a local young man who will be the musical performer during the reception. Alexander is an autistic savant, with perfect pitch, a near-photographic memory for music and a surprising facility with the saxophone and piano who has performed at Carnegie Hall.
Our feature film. Deej, is about a nonspeaking young man who dreams of autistic civil rights. The 2018 Peabody Award winning documentary film Deej, with its insider view of autism, challenges us all to live inclusion.
There will be a collection of short films shown that are written, produced and starring local individuals who are participants in the Options for All, Film and Media Studio program. This program is a partnership with Joey Travolta’s Inclusion Films and Options for All in San Diego that teaches autistic and developmentally disabled adults the art of film production, multimedia development and supporting creative skills necessary in film and media industries. This program provides hands-on opportunities for program participants to develop the skills necessary to one day find employment in these industries.
