Pinback and Buckfast Superbee
It’s been around 20 years since Pinback first started making noise around town, though recordings tend to be infrequent due to the many musical projects of its members, especially man-of-a-thousand-bands Rob Crow. It’s been a half dozen years since their last full-length (though there was an EP collection last year, Some Offcell Voices), but every once in a while, Crow and Zach Smith (usually backed by drummer Chris Prescott) mark a special occasion with a special performance. This time, it’s a Halloween show at the Lafayette Hotel, where 1998 San Diego Music Award-winning Best New Artist Buckfast Superbee will also be celebrating two decades on the local scene. The bill includes piano-centric punk-jazz locals Gods of Mount Olympus, who released a self-titled EP in February via Bird Attack Records.
