Un-Masquerade Ball
Burlesque, boys and girls, with a master of disguise cosplay performer, drag queens, a special performance by the wonderfully sketchy Sketchalina Jones, will be performing along with some major surprises. Members of the public are wholeheartedly invited. Masks are required and extreme-incognito dress is greatly encouraged. Custom, handmade masks may be ordered at the Un-Masquerade Ball's website (www.unmasqueradesd.com).The point of the Un-Masquerade Ball, in addition to raising funds and awareness for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness and for people living with HIV/AIDS, is to remove everyday masks of social rank, status and divisions. Paradoxically, that will happen by wearing an identity-disguising mask to the Un-Masquerade Ball! Attendees are to show up in their own unique, beautiful, clever or even a simple masks will do. They should be aimed at seriously concealing their identity, even from their closest friends. During the big bash, we encourage attendees to mingle among, and chat with strangers—Something your Mom probably told you to never do! Think about it, attendees will make a slew of new acquaintances, new networking connections, and maybe even new friends. Aimed squarely at getting folks out of their social media and real-life bubbles, the idea is for attendees to get break down barriers and face people with less judgement. They might just get to know of people they never would have engaged without a mask. All of the money goes to Christopher Michaels AIDS Lifecycle goal of $10,000
