May 11-12, 2018 @8pm Visionary Dance Theatre presents "Tabula Rasa" at the San Diego Performing Arts Center (4579 Mission Gorge Place, San Diego, CA, 92120) on May 11th-12th, 2018 @ 8pm. Artistic Director Spencer John Powell premieres a new work titled "Wed-locked". This new work takes the audience through the journey of a 50 year marriage. From courtship to growing old together, this work provides a window into the life of two people. Experience joy, sorry, anger, happiness, jealousy, love, and many other emotions in the journey of marriage. Spencer John Powell also re-stages and re-imagines his 2010 work "Black Tongue". This high-energy, rock-filled work contains the expressions of a youthful new generation. Assistant Artistic Director Trixi Agiao also premieres a new work titled "Acclimate or Harden". This new work is about learning to navigate our world in this specific point in time. Not only is technology growing at a rapid place, but our political climate is pin-balling as well. This struggle to adapt or reject will be physically explored by the dancers' bodies. The process of creating movement will include exploring such movement themes as having control vs not, losing balance vs. recovering balance, external influences vs. internal influences, reimagining orientation, and reimagining gravity.
