Carnival of the Animals
The humorous musical suite Carnival of the Animals, by French Romantic composer Camille Saint-Saëns, is being performed by students of the nonprofit All About Music San Diego, dedicated to inspiring the musical abilities of youth in orchestral settings, small chamber groups and solo opportunities. The group is led by Mary Gerard, a highly regarded music director and conductor in the San Diego area. This concert is all about fun, featuring fourteen movements, each representing a different animal or animals. The experience will be enhanced with original art and brief humorous poetry verses written by Ogden Nash to accompany each movement. The Discovery series of concerts at the library serves to educate the public about various music forms and to expand the opportunity for local musicians to perform and provide insights to their music. There is no charge for this performance and all ages are welcome. The performance will be in the second floor community room at the library.
