Opening party for a collection of colorful art from young Guatemalan artists. The Compass will be hosting small first bites and a glass of champagne to toast the event this Friday. Please come and support a great cause and great group of kids!! In the village of San Pedro, Guatemala, there is a small art school that was started nine years ago by a local artist named Jose Mendez. His vision was to bring the gift of art and education to the poverty stricken children of his community. The program teaches kids at all levels and gives them an opportunity to break the generational cycle of poverty by creating and selling their own art to support their own education. The school has produced some incredible young artists and we are fortunate to host their wonderful creations. All funds raised through the sale of their art goes directly to maintaining the school and to the artists, which funds their education and helps their families.
