Local archaeologist and historian Doug Mengers will be discuss the history and archaeology of the San Diego trolley system. Hear the history of trolleys and their relationship with the growth of San Diego, starting with the first horse-drawn trolleys in 1886 through the formation of John D. Spreckels' San Diego Electric Railway in the 1890s to the growth of the trolley suburbs and the decline leading to the eventual dismantling of the trolley system in 1949.
