San Diego Bayfair
Bayfair started out in 1964 as a simple hydroplane race and has grown into what has been described as “a three-ring circus on the water,” an annual family festival that attracts 80,000 spectators in three days.
In recent years the vendor village has expanded to include an entertainment stage and a kids’ zone. More than 700 RV spots will take over Mission Bay Park, a rare opportunity to stay overnight in the park.
As a sports competition, the Mission Beach event draws more powerboat racing classes than any other site in the world. The main draw is the H1 Unlimited racing, as the tour wraps up its season in San Diego. $20 for Friday; $30 Saturday and Sunday.
