Landlubbers Day at Seaport
849 West Harbor Drive, San Diego, 92101
Cost: Free
The third-annual Landlubbers Day is a celebration of all things pirate, with costume and “talk like a pirate” contests for kids and adults, a mermaid grotto (featuring photo opportunities), street performances along the boardwalk (sword swallowers, rock balancers), arts and crafts, and music from the Jackstraws, San Diego’s pirate-themed band.
Visitors are encouraged to don their finest eye patch and pirate garb for a chance to win prizes. Costume and “talk like a pirate” contests kick off at 2 p.m., with prizes for best costume and best pirate accent awarded in a number of age categories. Four-legged scallywags will have a chance to compete in a pet-costume category, new for 2017.
