Firebird
The Firebird ballet is a Russian tale of love and magic. The story takes place in an enchanted garden deep in the forest. Prince Ivan wanders into the garden and discovers the Firebird, a mystical creature that appears to be a beautiful woman with a bird-like appearance. Prince Ivan is searching for a beloved princess who has been captured by the evil magician, Kaschei. The Firebird uses her special powers to help Prince Ivan and teaches him how the power of love overcomes evil. This large cast ballet with elaborate scenery and costumes, Igor Stravinsky’s score, and Elizabeth Wistrich’s choreography makes for a stunning theatrical experience. Program also includes: George Balanchine's Serenade, San Diego premiere of Ash, and Samuel Barber Adagio choreographed by Elizabeth Wistrich, Artistic Director of City Ballet of San Diego.
