Trails & Rails, MohaviSoul, Jefferson Jay
The Acoustic Evenings series at the Athenaeum showcases local San Diego acoustic musicians. Three performers are featured in each program and are available at the intermission reception and post-concert meet-and-greet. The project advances the Athenaeum’s commitment to support San Diego talent. The spring series concludes with local performers Trails and Rails, MohaviSoul, and Jefferson Jay.
Walt Richards and Paula Strong formed Trails & Rails to combine their Western history interests with their love of cowboy and train songs. They have performed together for over 25 years in various formats, including the instrumental group Mandolin Madness. MohaviSoul was formed in 2012 by guitarist singer Mark Miller and singer mandolin player Randy Hanson. Based in San Diego, the band blends a variety of sounds, including bluegrass, Americana, folk, soulful ballads, storytelling, and gypsy jazz. Jefferson Jay has been pleasing San Diego audiences with his acoustic guitar and vocals since the beginning of the 21st century. Hosting and originating events, Jay practices a uniquely inclusive approach to entertainment.
